Nuera's IP Telephony Gateway Wins BCR Magazine's Coveted ``Best in Test'' Award over Cisco, Ascend and Others.

SAN DIEGO--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Feb. 4, 1999--Business Communications Review (BCR) magazine's January, 1999 issue published the results of Mier Communications' second head-to-head evaluation of IP telephony gateways, and for the second time Nuera Communications topped the list of vendors rated in the competition.

In the most recent test, Nuera outperformed Cisco, Ascend, Clarent and Hypercom to achieve the highest overall rating based on configuration, installation and ease of use, features, management and administration, performance and price performance.

Previous IP telephony gateway testing at Mier Communications, the results of which were published in BCR's January, 1998 issue, awarded Nuera Best in Test honors over Lucent, Nortel and Selsius.

In addition to the top overall score, Nuera garnered top ratings for lowest latency and richest feature set. End-to-end delays measured by Mier were 62 milliseconds, lowest in the test and well below the designated "telco standard" of 100 milliseconds. Nuera's performance in the features category was driven by support for voice, fax and transparent modem relay as well as the NueraView Network Management System, offering "easy access to key settings and configuration parameters."
