Fed: Friend of murdered teenager flies home
BRISBANE, April 14 AAP - The shattered friend of murdered British backpacker CarolineStuttle has flown home to England as police continue to probe the teenager's death.
A clearly distraught Sarah Holiday, who had known Ms Stuttle since primary school,yesterday flew out of Bundaberg.
The pair had only arrived in the Queensland sugar city last Sunday to pick tomatoesto help fund their travels.
Three days later Ms Stuttle's body was found under the Burnett River bridge after anapparent vicious robbery.
Ms Holiday, 20, flew to Brisbane yesterday accompanied by two police officers and laterboarded a flight to London.
Police last night returned to the scene of Ms Stuttle's murder with a man who is assistingthem with their inquiries.
But Detective Inspector Jeff Oliphant said the man was not a suspect.
Ms Stuttle, who had planned a career in forensic medicine, was found dead under thebridge on Wednesday night clutching her purse strap.
A post-mortem examination confirmed she was assaulted and died from head and spinalinjuries after falling about nine metres.
There was no evidence of sexual assault.
Bundaberg residents have been laying floral tributes where her body was found eventhough most never knew the York teenager.
Ms Stuttle and her friend had only been in Australia for two months and had alreadybeen to Broome in Western Australia and Sydney before arriving in Bundaberg.
