VIC: Geelong a fire danger, says firefighters union
MELBOURNE, Jan 11 AAP - Areas of Geelong, including the Shell oil refinery, were in grave
danger because the Country Fire Authority (CFA) would take too long to turn up to fight a
fire, the firefighter's union has warned.
According to internal CFA documents released by the United Firefighters' Union
this morning, more than one third of the authority's 18 Geelong brigades audited
would not be able to respond to daylight fires within the required minimum time of six
minutes.
