NT: NT economy outgrows boom-bust: Martin

DARWIN, Jan 21 AAP - Strong economic growth predicted for the Northern Territory indicatedthe economy had outgrown the boom-bust cycle, Chief Minister Clare Martin said today.

Economic forecaster Access Economics predicted the NT economy will lead Australia overthe next five years, growing at 4.6 per cent a year compared with a national average of2.9 per cent.

The strength is largely due to construction of the $1.3 billion Alice Springs-Darwinrailway which is due for completion in early 2004.
