FED: NFF welcomes flood package
National Farmers' Federation president IAN DONGES has welcomed the federal government's
$216 million package for flood stricken farmers.
He says the package should also pressure the banks into helping out.
Mr DONGES says the government's package is a generous response to the most serious
natural disaster affecting farmers in at least 25 years.
He says additional help is needed from the New South Wales government and banks.
Mr DONGES says neither he nor the farmers are happy with the way the banks are handling
the situation.
He says they have a social obligation to complement the government's package.
