Qld: Windy weather keeps swimmers away and rescues down
Windy weather kept many swimmers away from beaches and rescues to a minimum at Queensland
coastal hotspots today, following a day of drama at the outset of the Easter break yesterday.
Holidaymakers were cloaked in jumpers as the weather turned sour on the Gold and Sunshine
coasts, delivering a metre swell and dangerous rips.
Twelve people were rescued on the Suncoast, and two swimmers were dragged to safety
in the Gold Coast area.
